Canada's New Leader

Seattle's neighbor to the north, Canada held their elections.  Americans are busy debating the latest in Joe Biden's will he or won't he status and trying to keep track of how many Republicans are still in the race. Canada elected their next Prime Minister.   Who is the soon to be resident of 24 Sussex?

Justin Trudeau, the leader of Canada's Liberal Party, is a boxer, a self described feminist and a former high school teacher.  He's young and charismatic with the public.  He'll be the second youngest Prime Minister in Canadian history and the very first to fellow a parent into office (his father was former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau).

Canadians don't actually elect their Prime Ministers, they only vote for members of Parliament.  A person becomes Prime Minister by being the leader of the party that wins the most parliamentary seats in a federal election.

The change in leadership will impact North America and Canada relations in regards to trade and the economy.

World Smile Day

Today is World Smile Day.  Did you know this first Friday of October each year was founded in 1999 by Harvey Ball, creator of the famous yellow smiley face?  It marks a day to do one act of  make someone smile.  An act of kindness from Seattle to across the ocean, Jesse Tam reminds us to spread the news.

" founded in 1999 by Harvey Ball, creator of the now famous yellow smiley face, when he thought his logo was becoming too commercial and losing its real meaning, he organised the day to recognize that a smile knows no religion or politics and that we should all spread a little happiness.  And after all, it doesn't take much effort to smile!

When Harvey died in 2001, the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation was created not just to honor his memory but to sponsor World Smile Day and raise money through donations and the licensing of the smiley face for charities that often receive little recognition.

Now in its seventeenth year, 2015 looks to be another big one for World Smile Day, with people all around the world cracking smiles, making the world a better place. So ...  give a real smile and spread a little kindness on World Smile Day"     http://www.national-awareness-days.com/world-smile-day.html

September, End of Summer

The month of September usually means the end of summer with changing temperatures. Jesse Tam, it's the end of vacation from many students heading back to school or attending college for the first time. It's also the best time to take advantage of traveling when lower priced airfares are available and the planes are less crowded.

Venture further and take a road trip and see the cities and landscapes when leaves are changing colors. Fuel prices are lower, which makes traveling by car a great way to see the states or short
weekend excursions.

Seattle Seafair Summer Favorites

It's one of the greatest things about summer in Seattle and the northwest regions. Jesse Tam encourages viewing and visiting Seafair week when the Navy fleets are stations for visitors at various ports in Seattle's waterfront. So much to do and see in all the surrounding cities and communities from Greenlake, Fremont, West Seattle, Bellevue...more.

The 3 day weekend brings many to Lake Washington to watch the amazing Blue Angels fly over with precision and form.  On the water you'll be able to see the hydro races roaring.  The warm summer heat will bring many boaters out to watch the events.  Many will be viewing from bridges or higher elevations from their houses and neighborhood.

The Seafair event will be filled with people taking buses, biking or shuttle for a day filled with music, performances, food, crowds, speakers and so much more...a must see and experience.

Festivities for Opening Day

May marks the Opening Day of Boating on Lake Washington and the Montlake Cup for Bellevue and Seattle.  The beginning of summer, Jesse Tam recommends this for families and friends.

Opening day, the official opening of Seattle's boating season at Seattle Yacht Club with a celebration of many kinds of water activities.  The morning festivities will include crew races, a sailboat race and the Grand Opening Day Boat Parade.

Parade starts at noon the first Saturday in May with the blast of a cannon and the raising of the Montlake Bridge. Seattle Yacht Club's Opening Day has become the nation's largest regional celebration of water, spring, and the opening of boating season. Participating yachts will be decorated to illustrate the 2015 theme for Opening Day, "Myths & Monsters"

Opening Day in Seattle is a family affair; families decorate their boats for the festivities and parades; spread blankets on the shoreline and spend hours watching and picnicking. Families dream of the boats they someday will own

Opening Day offers some outstanding story with crew competition and viewing of the variety of boats and costumes.

Celebrate Earth Day - Jesse Tam

 Earth Day
We celebrated Earth Day with a brisked sun filled day in Seattle and Bellevue with Jesse Tam appreciating the outdoors. It was a picture perfect mild spring temperature in the 60's during the afternoon with early flowers and trees blooming this year.  Our city is so fortunate to enjoy the green trees that surround us and rainy days to maintain our water supply for the environment.

The trees and clear skies are always admired by visitors who travel to Seattle from China and Asia. Recycling is another importance in helping us reduce pollution and the landfills.  Take a few minutes to separate the cans, paper products and glass.  http://jessetam.com/

Capturing nature's beautiful animals feeding on the plants in the neighborhood.  It is amazing to see the wildlife  roam freely in the outdoors nearby.  Friends and visitors marvel at the sighting of the tall beautiful evergreen trees, mountain ranges and clear skies and waterfront.

Seattle Top 25 US Destinations

Summer plans are just a few months away, Jesse Tam's favorite place in Seattle for locals and out of town visitors is the Pike Place market. The market is a historical site filled with fresh flowers, produce and all types of seafood displayed in stalls throughout the year. There are several floor levels to discover, so don't miss the unique shops to browse the trinkets...collector's items, books, posters and more. http://jessetam.com/seattle-jesse-tam/

Enjoy a cup of chowder or salad along the fine or casual dining options along the waterfront.  Did you know that the first Starbucks coffee is located at the market?   There will be a long line of regal visitors at this location to view the first store front.

Seattle's Tallest Tower

The Pacific Rim and Seattle discovered with overseas  investors from various countries created a buyer's challenge. Jesse Tam noticed the new market trend for real estate investments in our area with overseas capital continues to grow. Since last year, several groups have inquired about our tallest tower in Seattle included speculations and discussions.  The latest news regarding Columbia Tower is finally on the market, but it will be at a premium price.  New growth, market trend, high tech, start ups, health tech are all part of this region..

Columbia Tower, Seattle's Tallest tower is for sale and available to interested buyers.

" Rumors had been around since last year that it is on the market and now this is the year It's been rumored for months that Columbia Center would go up for sale...The decision by Beacon Capital Partners to put the 76-story downtown Seattle tower up for sale puts an exclamation point on the region's office market, emphasizing that it's now a seller's market. Numerous assets are either on the market or soon will be as owners try to capitalize on rising values.

Beacon has been upgrading the building to attract more tenants, and the 1.6 million-square-foot building has been filling up with tenants...Beacon bought the building from Blackstone for $621 million in 2007

Celebrating the Lunar New Year

It's the lunar year of the Sheep with Jesse as the Greater Seattle community celebrates with lion dances, fireworks, music and food. This year Jesse Tam and friends enjoyed the live performance in the International district with a children's parade, judging contest, food from variety of restaurants in the area and just a gathering of people. The traditional celebration usually will last for 7 days with each day having a specific meaning. Other festive events were well attended at Bellevue Square mall with martial arts demonstrations, children participation in martial arts, traditional music and folk dancing. This year was a great success to see so many visitors to join the Chinese celebration, thanks for Mr. Tam for inviting us to join his friends at the gala evening.

The evening Gala with HKAW benefit raising money for our Seattle community at the Sheraton Hotel with fashion show, dancing, silent and live auction.  It was a lively and well attended celebration.  The photos below are from street vendors and people in Shanghai getting ready for the Chinese lunar new year, Jesse Tam's recent business associates.  The traditional lanterns, oranges for good luck, decors for the home and sheep symbols for this year.

Seattle Seahawks Victory

There are few words to describe the Seattle Seahawks, Jesse Tam discussed the victorious overtime WIN for the Hawks leading to Super Bowl 49.  Seattle trailing for 3 quarters of the game with several inceptions and missed connections the remaining two minutes painted a different picture. Our Hawks team stayed composed together and made everyone a Believer.

Keeping the Faith.  Don't Give Up.  Believe in Yourself.   Strive to the End.
Stay Focused. What really matters is how you play the game...

Motivation keeps one going with helping one another as a team.  Thinking of the team instead of just yourself and watching each others backs. That was the spirit of the team and winning.  All the difference is the end results! Thoughts from Jesse Tam.

Seattle Space Needle - Night

One friend introduces you to another friends and they want to come experience America. They are interested  in knowing more about schools, housing, Boeing, Microsoft and Starbucks, Amazon, wineries and of course the Space Needle.  It's fun being a tourist in your own city. It's not boring seeing the same places because each new friend will share a different story.  The common factors  expressed with everyone visiting Seattle is the beautiful trees, fresh air, education, lades, mountains and quality of life. What other cities have the combination of mountain and water?

Regardless of whether you are a first time visitors to Seattle or a long time Washington residents, the Space Needle is always a fun sight. Just drive or take the monorail from downtown to the Seattle Center and take a stroll.   You'll be amazed at the people and number of visitors each year.  Discover the shop and browse inside the store for a few souvenirs.
