Seattle Seahawks Victory

There are few words to describe the Seattle Seahawks, Jesse Tam discussed the victorious overtime WIN for the Hawks leading to Super Bowl 49.  Seattle trailing for 3 quarters of the game with several inceptions and missed connections the remaining two minutes painted a different picture. Our Hawks team stayed composed together and made everyone a Believer.

Keeping the Faith.  Don't Give Up.  Believe in Yourself.   Strive to the End.
Stay Focused. What really matters is how you play the game...

Motivation keeps one going with helping one another as a team.  Thinking of the team instead of just yourself and watching each others backs. That was the spirit of the team and winning.  All the difference is the end results! Thoughts from Jesse Tam.

First Trip to Seattle

It is January, starting the year with Jesse Tam will mean more visitors discovering Seattle as they come to see the Pacific Northwest.  It's amazing how many people I've meet who have business and traveled the world to Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia but this is their first stop to Washington state.  Some have visited other cities in the United States such as New York, Boston, Chicago, Florida, Los Angeles...now they are loving Seattle.

Seattle Space Needle - Night

One friend introduces you to another friends and they want to come experience America. They are interested  in knowing more about schools, housing, Boeing, Microsoft and Starbucks, Amazon, wineries and of course the Space Needle.  It's fun being a tourist in your own city. It's not boring seeing the same places because each new friend will share a different story.  The common factors  expressed with everyone visiting Seattle is the beautiful trees, fresh air, education, lades, mountains and quality of life. What other cities have the combination of mountain and water?

Regardless of whether you are a first time visitors to Seattle or a long time Washington residents, the Space Needle is always a fun sight. Just drive or take the monorail from downtown to the Seattle Center and take a stroll.   You'll be amazed at the people and number of visitors each year.  Discover the shop and browse inside the store for a few souvenirs.

Tis' the Season of Memories

Mr Scarecrow
A chilly December evening with friends and  Jesse Tam, soaking in the radiant lights. Our childhood memories are filled with laughter, smiles, tears or broken hearts. Tears do not always represent sadness. They may mean emotions of joy, surprise from our families, friends, pets or even strangers.

Families gather to pose for photos and make this a traditional event to start the holiday season. Children wander along the decorated paths with small carriage lanterns or flashlights to help them follow the paths though the Botanical Garden.  The garden transforms during the month of December into a Festival of Lights for the community to enjoy.

The displays are all created with volunteers from the community and donations. This magical display is located in Bellevue and opens from Thanksgiving until the beginning of January. It's truly a place for families and friends to stroll through the garden. Enjoy and end the evening with a delicious cup of hot chocolate and cookies. Traditions and memories are important parts of our lives and childhood.

Sunflowers and Garden

Each of the displays are handcrafted by volunteers who work year round on this project.  The lights are donated to make the display into each piece of the garden.  Imagine the strings of lights required to make one flower or display.

Making A Difference and Impact

Making A Difference Jesse Tam, we can all make a difference by our actions. It may be standing up for your rights and beliefs or remaining silent and do absolutely nothing and be passive. The choices are yours, but your decision can create an impact on others whether it is in the professional world or volunteering.
Are you a leader or follower, take action or make the decision.  What are your intentions as a leader?  What goes around comes around and may will follow you throughout.  Every good deed will bring rewards and those with ill-will will have it's making.

We are fortunate to have the Gates Foundation in Seattle. We were invited to view and join the campaign to help End Polio with our Rotary District Leaders during a reception presented at the Foundation's Visitor Center.  Their work and inspiration locally and worldwide will make an impact in our society. The campaign with polio vaccination in various countries so we can hope to become a polio free world.

Think about it, have you made a difference?  Have you given to others without expecting anything in return.  Have you spoken up for anyone or volunteered unconditionally?  "Teach others what you learn.  Use your creativity to help".

Fellowship with Rotary, District 5030

Our Rotary District held an event organized by Fellowship Chair in Seattle at the O'Asian.  We welcome the special visitors from Mexico City.  The fellowship was well attended with club Presidents, District Governor John Enger and his Leadership Team.

Prospective friends interested in Rotary chatted with club members discussing Rotary projects and volunteering opportunities in our communities.

We exchanged stores, ideas and projects from each club with networking and happy hour cheers!  It was a relaxing evening of fellowship and attended by guests and prospective new members.

Rotary China Friendship Jesse Tam

Where should the  Rotary Tour begin?  Each time I returned from Asia or business, my friends and associates would say, "I want to see China with you".  They wanted to see for themselves the major changes and business developments.

I couldn't possibly take each one to see the amazing places or experiences. That would take too many years or maybe even a decade.  The tour to  China begins from the gates of the Seattle International Airport to our first stop Beijing Capital International Airport.

It was a long flight to Beijing and we arrived  after 12 plus hours and connected with our other Rotarian joining us from Africa.  Ready to hit the road and venture into amazing China with so much to see and experience in just a short week. Feeling the jet lag, we had a few hours to rest and refresh ourselves before starting the afternoon city tour of Beijing.

There were two climbs at this sight, one was easier and the other steeper. One friend leading to another and we became a group of 27 Rotarians and non Rotarian friends. More to stories to come.
